Play Mats
How to clean my play mat?
Sadiekids play mat cleaner is the best way to look after your play mat! Wipe with a mild detergent and water (see products to avoid below). You can also use a 1:4 diluted white vinegar and water mix. Always use a soft cloth and avoid soaking the mat — just a light wipe is enough.
After cleaning:
Make sure both the mat and floor are completely dry before placing the mat back.
⚠️ Do not dry in direct sunlight.
Avoid:
- Alcohol-based, probiotic, or harsh chemical cleaners
- Products like Handy Andy, Sunlight Liquid, Domestos, Pine Gel, Miltons, SoPure brand cleaners, or Tile Cleaners
- Steam cleaning, vacuuming, or soaking
- Sharp or hot items, or pets with sharp nails
Can I use baby wipes?
Avoid baby wipes that contain alcohol or fragrance stabilisers — these can cause discolouration or surface damageover time.

10 Main differences between the SadieMat and FoundationMat?
1) Film Layer:
- SadieMat: Made from a non-toxic PU (Polyurethane) film with a cross-linked structure. This makes it more resistant to stretching and tearing.
- FoundationMat: Made from a non-toxic PE (Polyethylene) film with a simpler structure. It’s more flexible but less resistant to stretching.
2) Foam Core:
- SadieMat: Features a smooth, flexible, and memory-like foam that feels premium and is easy to roll and carry. The eco-friendly, high-performance material offers excellent elasticity and comfort.
- FoundationMat: Made from soft, lightweight foam that provides gentle cushioning and insulation. It feels slightly firmer and less elastic.
3) Edging and Thickness:
- SadieMat: Has laminated edges, making it 100% waterproof. Its maximum thickness is 1.5cm to maintain full edge lamination while preserving comfort and protection.
- FoundationMat: Has a stitched border, making it not fully waterproof at the seams but still 100% wipeable. Its thickness can go up to 2cm, offering extra cushioning.
4) Printing Method / Design:
- SadieMat: Printed with a continuous, full-surface design that runs edge to edge without repetition.
- FoundationMat: Printed with a tiled design that repeats across the mat’s surface.
5) Size Options:
- SadieMat: 2.1m × 1.4m • 1.4m × 1.4m • 1.4m (round)
- FoundationMat: 2m × 1.8m • 1.8m × 1.5m
6) High-/ Low Traffic areas:
- SadieMat: Best for schools, play centres, and high-traffic spaces — extra durable, fully sealed, and resistant to wear and tear.
- FoundationMat: Best for homes and gentle play areas, offering cozy softness and insulation.
7) Are both mats waterproof?
- SadieMat: Fully laminated and 100% waterproof, sealed all around.·
- FoundationMat: Waterproof on both sides but the stitched edges are water-resistant, not sealed.
8) What is the overall texture and feel of the play mats?
- SadieMat: Feels softer and smoother to the touch.
- FoundationMat: Feels firmer and bouncier.
9) Why does the SadieMat cost more than the FoundationMat?
- SadieMats are made from premium, advanced materials with a longer and more complex manufacturing process.
- FoundationMats, while still safe and high-quality, are made using a more efficient process.
10) Playpen Compatibility:
- SadieMat: Currently no compatible playpen—we’re developing one that meets our quality standards.
- FoundationMat: Compatible with several playpen options available in both sizes.
Can I order a custom design?
Unfortunately not — designs are produced in bulk, so custom patterns or colour mixes aren’t possible at this time. We welcome your ideas for future designs!
My play mat edges are curling/ creases on the mat after opening. What should I do?
This is normal after unpacking.
- Using the mat face down (curling side down) until it softens.
- Rolling it tightly in the opposite direction and holding for a few minutes. It will naturally flatten with use.
Play Pens
Are the play pens compatible to both the SadieMat and Foundation Mat Collection?
Unfortunatly not - the current play pen collection is only compatible in size for the FoundationMat Collection.
We will add a play pen collection for the SadieMat in 2026.
What is the difference between the Activity Play Pens and Fabric Play pens?
- The Activity Play Pen is made from durable materials and designed for more active, everyday play — ideal for toddlers and high-use areas.
- The Fabric Play Pen has soft, fabric sides and a lightweight frame, making it perfect for gentle indoor use and younger babies.
